Lions Karoo to Coast — 100 km, Uniondale to Knysna The route leaves the Karoo at Uniondale and crosses Prince Alfred's Pass, one of the great hand-built mountain passes in the country, before dropping through indigenous forest into Knysna for a finish that has become as much festival as finish line. It's open to mountain bikes, gravel bikes and e-bikes, with separate prizes for the gravel field and a battery-swap service on route. The field is capped at 4 500 and sells out on a first-come, first-served basis. It's run by the Lions Clubs of Uniondale and Knysna, and the money goes somewhere: their sight projects and the South African Guide Dog Association.
